Feb 26th, 2012: On February 26th there will be an open house from 2-4 p.m. There will be speakers Mary Wellensiek and Howard Uhrich who will talk about the former Ordnance Plant west of Grand Island. All of the museum’s collection of Ordanace Plant items will be on display.
Mar 1st, 2012: On March 1st we will host a Nebraska Day event at the museum and community center for area Fourth graders. Nebraska author Jean Lukesh will present a program to the kids.
Also of Note:
We hope to erect a historical marker four miles west of Cairo to honor the Borglum family who lived there in the late1800′s. Sculptors Solon and Gutzon Borglum became world famous in their day. Gutzon is of Mt. Rushmore fame.
A book is pending with Ohio University Press about the Balcom-Green collection of photographs in the museum’s possession. The museum is seeking a corporate grant to help get the book published.
